Great to hear stories about Basin's Up which we renamed Zeno's

Dear Mr. Clark,

It was great talking with you on the phone about Zeno’s and the Queen City Jazz Band.  We (Terry Lee and I), our wedding party and guests were all there after our wedding on Saturday, June 10, 1978.  We loved it!

On May 21, 1978 I had sent a 20 page letter to all of our invited guests telling them about things to do in Denver.  The paragraph below is what I wrote about Zeno’s.

The choice for Saturday night’s entertainment is to hear the

Queen City Jazz Band at Zeno’s on Larimer Square.  This band equals

any in New Orleans!  The night club is fairly small though, so if we

are going to get in at all we must make reservations now.  The only

way they will take reservations is to pay the cover charge in advance.

This is $3.50 per person and is probably one of the best bargains in

town.  The band plays from 9:00 PM until 1:15 AM.  We will plan to

arrive at Zeno’s to hear the Queen City Jazz Band at 9:30 P.M. on

Saturday, June 10 after eating somewhere near (downtown).

Thank you and the entire QCJB for your help in making our 1st Annual Roaring 20’s Ball a success! We had a blast :)

The music was amazing and really added to the “1920’s feel” — we had a lot of great feedback about it!

Again, thank you so much for your wonderful performance. Happy New Year!

"When the Queen City Jazz Band (with Wende Harston) plays for a worship service the energy of Joy fills the hearts of all present."

"Many thanks to you and your super QCJB -- you guys certainly lived up to your long-standing reputation as masters of New Orleans Jazz and Blues and providers of great entertainment, perfect for our family fun and fundraising event.

Ron and I both want to thank all of you for the perfect start to our evening and magical celebration.  Everyone there enjoyed your music so much and they continue to tell us what a great beginning you all were to a wonderful evening.  I do not know if you saw others not part of our party dancing as they listened to your performance.   It was outstanding and we are so happy that you agreed to play for us.

I wanted to thank you, Hank, and QCJB for a great performance.  It was well received and I got a lot of very positive feedback.  Thank you so much for your role in making the conference memorable for our many guests.

The Arc "Gets Jazzed" Anthology of Jazz II a Success!
It may have been cold and damp outside, but inside the music was hot! Nearly 300 people gathered together last Thursday evening to celebrate 50 years of The Arc. Dez Rubano & Friends warmed up the crowd with some pre-concert music in the lobby. Queen City Jazz Band kicked off the concert with their New Orleans-style jazz and immediately had people smiling and tapping their feet.

The Queen City Band was fantastic! What a fun, authentic experience for children of all ages. The music was wonderful and included a wide variety of songs. The interaction the band had with the kids was not only instructional, but entertaining, too. All of the members of the group are very talented and seemed to enjoy working with children. They were all very down to earth and you could tell that they really enjoy what they do.

The QCJB is always a delight to have in our concert series. They present a variety of fine jazz along with information about composers, eras, and performers that adds even more to our audiences' listening pleasure. Great fun, lively, instrumental and vocal music that fills our house. We love 'em.

You guys and Wendy did it again!!   I’ve gotten great audience responses from the concert Monday.  People really enjoyed it.  According to our ticket count we had 355 folks in the audience.  Not bad for a little town.
